Time

I am learning to identify the features of an analogue clock.

I know I can do it when I can draw a clock and label the following features:

  • hour hand
  • minute hand
  • correctly position the numbers 1-12

Watch this:

Telling the time helps us manage our day and analogue clocks help us keep track of that time.

Their designs have become more advanced, their size smaller and they are used all across the world.

Use this picture of an analogue clock to review the information from the video you just watched.

Telling Time

Independent Activity

  • Open your green lined book.
  • Rule a line under any previous work to rule off.
  • Write today’s date.
  • Write the heading “Time”

Answer the following questions:

  • Which hand is the longest?
  • How many minutes is half an hour?
  • Where does the minute hand point at o’clock?
  • How many minutes in 1 hour?

Now you have studied an analogue clock, cover your work and try to draw an analogue clock by yourself.

Make sure your clock has the correct numbers and put your minute hand and hour hand at three thirty.

Try not to look at a clock, try to use your understanding and draw it from memory, good luck.

Topic: Using Descriptive Language in Reading and Writing

I am learning to identify and use interesting words in a text.

I know I can do it when I can:

  • Recognise when a writer has used more interesting words than the words we might use in everyday life.
  • I can include interesting language in my own writing.

Good writers will use interesting words. They will research new words and edit their writing to make sure they are not repeating the same words.

Study the alternative word list below:

FUN! We suggest you have some fun by standing in front of a mirror and saying each word out loud with action and expression to bring out the meaning of the word [you can ask a family member to join in😊]

Alternative words

Today you are going to collect and research interesting words.

  • Do you have a plan to get there?
