Time

I am learning to identify and sequence:

  • events from my day
  • when they happen (the time)
  • how long they take (duration)

I know I can do it when I can recognise:

  • when things happen
  • how long they take
  • the sequence of events

Independent Task

  • Open your green lined book.
  • Rule a line under any previous work to rule off.
  • Write today’s date.
  • Write the heading “Time”

Your Day

Draw four events that happen as part of your usual day.

Record the following in a table:

• The order of the events

• What time this event usually happens (e.g. morning, when I wake up, 7:30am, are suitable descriptions)

• How long does this event usually take to complete (e.g. 10 minutes, 1 hour)

Event Time (when) Duration (how long)
1.Brush teeth 7:30am 2 minutes
2.

Times of Day

1 a1

Here are five pictures showing something happening at different times of the day.

Have a good look at each one, think about:

  • What do you see in the picture?
  • What is happening?
  • Could you describe it to someone else?

Complete the following tasks:

1. Put the 5 pictures in order (sequence) that you think they might happen in a day.
2. Suggest what time these things happen in the day and draw that time on an analogue clock.

Concept: Applying Reading Strategies: Being Persuasive

I am learning to support my ideas with evidence that will persuade someone to agree with me.

I know I can do it when I write something with:

  • A clear introduction that states my topic/main idea
  • Reasons to support my idea, with examples and details
  • A final statement to sum up my idea

Try this

Use these persuasive language sentence starters above to compose a persuasive argument sentence for the topics below. Say your argument out loud or write it down in your workbook.

  • Weekends should be three days long
  • Football is the best sport
  • Mathletics is the hardest subject
  • Cats make the best pets
  • Movies are better than books

Independent Activity

  1. Open your green lined book.
  2. Rule a line under any previous work to rule off.
  3. Write today’s date
  4. Write the heading “Writing to Persuade”

Now, you’re ready to begin your task 😊
