Monday, 7th June 2021 – Literacy Grammar

Topic: Connectives

I am learning to use connectives to sequence ideas or events in a text.

I know I can do it when I use connectives correctly in sentences.

Today we will start by revising nouns and verbs.

Study the examples in the table below to help you recall what you have learnt at school.

 Independent Activity

  1. Open your green lined book.
  2. Rule a line under any previous work to rule off.
  3. Write today’s date.
  4. Write the heading “Connectives”

There is no need to print out the following worksheets.

Read the text and questions a few times till you understand them.

Then you are ready to write out the answers only, in your green exercise book.

Write the number of the question in your book and then write your answer next to it.

Watch this fun TIME SEQUENCER video before going on to the next sheet.

This video is a good one to watch again when you reach the challenge activity ‘TRY IT YOURSELF” at the bottom of the sheet.

Counting

Independent Task

  • Open your green lined book.
  • Rule a line under any previous work to rule off.
  • Write today’s date.
  • Write the heading “Counting Collections”

Activity 1

Fill a cup with pasta, Lego, etc… Tip it out and count.   How many ways can you count the objects?

Is there a way that you can group them to make it easy to see the total, almost straight away.

Show your thinking in your green book.

 Activity 2

I am thinking of two numbers. When I add them together, the total is 16. How many ways can you do this?
Use the objects from the above counting activity to show your thinking.

Now try another number.
